It wasn't going to be an easy ride for these guys because the contents of their lyrics was deemed by the law to incident violence and hatred towards the police and the system. These three guys had aspirations to make it big with a new style of rap music call Gangster Rap. From their humbled beginnings living in Compton., where drug dealing, gangsters and violence was the norm in the mid 80s. MUST OWN***** 10 people found this helpfulīrilliant true story portrayed of the lives of Gangster Rappers, Dr Dre., Ice Cube and Easy E. Nothing better than hearing 'straight outta compton' play in crisp quality audio really brings the track to life much like this release does for the movie.
There is an extended cut albeit not a very noticeable difference to the original something its still a bonus and its crammed with special features for you to dig into.Īll in all this is a Blu-Ray worth buying simply because of how much the movie offers and how much more the disc gives with it. The Blu-ray itself comes in a very smooth sleeve and Amazon delivered it in pristine condition. If you love hip-hop this is like a giant christmas present on a disc. Its an added bonus seeing a cameo of '2pac' and the extreme resemblence his actor has with the original rap artist who is also going to star in the upcoming Tupac movie. The soundtrack is authentic and hip hop/ nwa fans will love everything from seeing Eazy-E's hilarious first recording session, a young ice cubes back story stretching through to the early days of his acting career and the inclusion of the death row years in Dre's life showing how he eventually stood up to Suge Knight and created aftermath (a label which spawned one of the best rappers of the 21st century. Dre stole the show as he had the biggest variety of emotional performances to give and his character development meant switching up his acting style to really show the origin of hip hops pioneer realistically. The performances of the actors is convincing, raw and refreshing delivering a believable atmosphere and story. Went to see this in cinemas and got this blu-ray on release day. The film is in my eyes one of the best of 2015. If hip-hop is a genre of music you dislike then stay away from this movie as it will result in bias negative reviews judged purely on a preference.
Now let's clear up something right from the off, this is a movie about a very controversial hip-hop group and the majority of the film will contain hip-hop music.
